About The Peace Cafe
Our History
Based in the San Fernando Valley, The Peace Café is currently focused on providing signature cold brew beverages to folks in the community. The Peace Café was conceived as a way to marry our founder's passion for problem solving in international relations with a desire to develop local café communities. Since he was a teenager, our founder, Trevor Witt, saw the coffee shop as an ideal community space -- a space for study, friendships, dates, and entertainment. After graduating from college with a degree in international relations, he wanted to find a way to bring his knowledge of conflict resolution to the community, in a way that was not pushy or preachy. The Peace Café LLC's long term goal is to open a café space that features a library on conflict resolution and sustainability, workshops and classes led by local academics, businesspeople, and nonprofits, civic engagement events, and open mic nights featuring local talent.
Our Coffee
At The Peace Café, we feature signature cold brew beverages, brewed with only the best coffee from independent roasters. With direct trade relationships with growers, the roasters that we use ensure that farmers are paid above market prices for the coffee they grow. The coffees we choose are generally medium and lighter roasts which highlight the characteristics of the specific coffee varietal and the terroir of the region in which they are grown.
Conflict Resolution & Sustainability
Coffee brings people together. There are coffee drinkers from every country, every socioeconomic background, and every religion. We want to provide a safe space where individuals can learn about other cultures, the history of various intercommunal disputes and NGOs working towards peacebuilding in those disputes, and efforts to build communities which are sustainable economically, politically, and environmentally around the world. We're committed to supporting local organizations and events with these goals in mind, and to providing a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.
